I just got an email from a representative of the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) regarding the PACE program. She was offering that they would give us a presentation about adopting the program at our request. "The Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program allows commercial, industrial and
large multi-family property owners to access long-term, 100% upfront financing for qualifying energy efficiency and water conservation improvements." "This program [...] allowing municipalities and counties to impose a property assessment lien at the owner’s request as a secure repayment mechanism. The governmental entity then contracts with commercial lenders who provide the financing and receive the assessment lien payments. Over 80 local governments across Texas are utilizing PACE [....] Annual utility savings typically exceed the annual PACE financing payment, creating a great rate of return." I'm not sure how many commercial, industrial and large multi-family property owners we currently have annexed into the city. I wonder if any Railway Street businesses might be interested in using this for a rainwater collection system or solar/wind power? I'm thinking I'll add this as an agenda item for Monday's meeting and holding off on requesting a presentation until I can gauge the commission's interest unless you read this and want me to hurry up and invite them to next week's meeting. Also if any local commercial, industrial and large multi-family property owners are reading this and think this program could be good for you, shoot me an email at cityclerk@kingsburytexas.org This is the letter they sent: PACE letter Non-Adopters.pdf (82.78 KB) Thanks!
