The City of Kingsbury has been awarded $32,955.54 in Coronavirus Fiscal Relief Fund grants.
The Kingsbury City Commission held a Public Meeting January 14, 2022 to get input from citizens on how these funds could be used.
There were many great ideas that people brought to the table and that we will consider further:
Public safety - Something to have a greater presence of sheriff and law enforcement. Public area for emergency food / water
Kingsbury sign
Generator for fire station
Any other items for the fire station
Internet improvements
Funds for non-profits and small businesses
City well (including hand pump or windmill for use during electric outages)
Medical supplies for emergency setup in fire station
Purchase of property for city hall or public use.

Establish an office of Emergency Management that is led by an elected or appointed official. They would then be funded by the community to manage many of the ideas already proposed, among others. This position would also serve as a liaison for other officials within the county.

Greetings, Thank you for providing the information session regarding the recently awarded SLFRF (Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds). In my humble opinion, City of Kingsbury (CoK) would invest well to foster a robust, equitable economic recovery, using the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to get more people into the workforce and or grow our local economies – with special focus on the disadvantaged communities hardest hit by the pandemic. For example, funding programs to provide dislocated workers with job training to enter high-demand occupations in growing industries or to fund childcare in high poverty areas, in order to provide more equitable access for families as well as help more working parents re-join the workforce. Additionally, CoK would do well to consider long-term investments for long term priorities that will address disparities exacerbated by the pandemic and enhance economic opportunity for many years to come. For instance, The State of Colorado is planning to invest $75 million to expand broadband infrastructure throughout the State, including to currently unserved areas. The State of Kentucky is also planning to invest in broadband infrastructure, spending $300 million to expand services to unserved and underserved communities, and devoting $250 million to water and sewer infrastructure projects, which Kentucky notes will deliver safe and reliable water to people across the state while also creating more than 3,800 direct and indirect jobs. Harris County Commissioners Court has identified four investment priorities supporting a robust recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic: Health, Housing, Jobs and Education, and County Operations. Commissioners Court has also established an equity framework under which programs will be selected, developed, implemented, and evaluated, and a governance process allowing for rapid approval of immediate relief projects while a parallel research and community input phase identifies opportunities for more strategic, transformational investments. Please let me know if you have questions, require additional information and or how I may be of further assistance. Best, --E

Shirley,
It's my understanding that Cities and counties that received direct payments from Treasury for the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund Program must submit the Interim Report by Tuesday, August 31, 2021. The initial annual Project and Expenditure report will cover activity from the date of award to September 30, 2021 and must be submitted to Treasury by October 31, 2021. The subsequent annual reports must be submitted to Treasury by October 31 each year.
Is the City of Kingsbury interim report available for public review? Or is the CoK initial (Interim and or initial Project and Expenditure) report deadline differ due to population size?
Thanks! --E
